Go See Dracula, and See Walden Alumna Gisela Chipe

That’s right, our own alumna Gisela Chipe (’00) is appearing as Lucy in this year’s production of Dracula at Actors Theatre of Louisville. The show is already underway, and if you haven’t yet gone you should definitely take on this great Halloween treat before it’s gone.
Here’s the news from ATL:

Described as “a spine-tingling, chill-inducing, good time filled with dark, gothic humor and mesmerizing performances” (Kellie Etheridge –The Turret), this season we celebrate Dracula’s 16th consecutive season at Actors Theatre, making it the longest running perennial production and the only Dracula to be seen annually at any theatre anywhere in the country. Now renowned for its incredible pyrotechnics, spectacular fight scenes and, of course, thrills, chills and blood, Dracula has firmly established itself locally as the must-see Halloween tradition. Louisville’s appetite for this blood-thirsty creature is as ravenous as ever and from the crowds of wide-eyed school students witnessing live theatre for the first time to the veteran Dracula goers we are thrilled to welcome back audiences year after year.

Gisela Chipe (Lucy) is excited to be joining Actors Theatre for the first time. Ms. Chipe was most recently seen in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Bat Boy! The Musical at Idaho Shakespeare Festival. Off-Broadway: Emancipation (Classical Theatre of Harlem). Other Theatre: The Seagull and Comedy of Errors (Great Lakes Theatre & Idaho Shakespeare Festivals); Macbeth (Stonington Opera House); 1001, 9 Parts of Desire (Contemporary American Theater Festival); Comedy of Errors and The Crucible (North Carolina Shakespeare Festival); The Underpants (Shadow Lawn Stage); Merchant of Venice (Colorado Shakespeare Festival); Misalliance, Major Barbara, Barrymore Award-winning original movement play Tuesday by Jewel Walker (PTTP). Additional Credits: Walden Theatre, College of Charleston, B.A., University of Delaware—PTTP, M.F.A.

I saw the show with Gisela Chipe and she was terrific! It was a great pleasure seeing her in Louisville and I hope she has enjoyed the city and audiences enough to return!
