Governor’s School for the Arts

It’s time for sophomores & juniors to think about their applications to the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA). Applications are due by December 31st.

GSA is a 3-week, all-expenses-paid residential program held @ Transylvania University in Lexington in the summer. Accepted participants will be immersed in daily seminars, master classes, lectures, hands-on workshops, and field trips in their chosen field. 2011 GSA will be held June 19 – July 9; a student performance festival will conclude the program. This is a fun, intensive program, and it’s a great way to make friends with others from all over the state while continuing to build your skills.

In January GSA applicants will be sent an email with instructions for recommendation letters (Walden instructors are eligible to provide recommendations), which must be submitted before February 16th. Auditions for select students will be held in March. Auditioners will be notified of acceptance on April 15, 2011.
