The play, adapted from the classic Charles Dickens novel by Nick Ormerod and Declan Donnellan, features one of English literature’s most familiar characters. Pip is a destitute orphan taken in by a wealthy recluse as a companion for her cold-hearted daughter Estella. Though he strives to become a proper English gentleman, corruption and arrogance threaten to topple Pip’s precarious aspirations.

Walden Theatre’s Cornerstone Classics, generously supported by the Yum! Brands Foundation, are drawn from among the “cornerstones” of the Western canon. These literary classics reveal universal truths about life and emotional response – laying a solid foundation for young actors while reminding audiences of their own humanity.
