Connecting Cultures in the C-J and on WDRB

Congratulations to all the great students from The Academy @ Shawnee, the Newcomer Academy (English as a Second Language), and Walden’s cast and crew who participated in the Connecting Cultures through Drama program!

Not only was this a tremendous experiment in devised theatre for all, and along the way we broke down cultural and curricular divides between so many students from diverse backgrounds and personal histories. And as a huge added bonus, we had some unprecedented coverage in local media!

Here’s a link to the Courier-Journal article by Elizabeth Kramer that appeared in the Sunday, May 5th edition of the paper. The story was a cover feature for the Arts section and gets into many of the details of what made this process so special.

And WDRB’s Gilbert Corsey produced a television story that aired Saturday April 27.
