February 27 – March 8 at Walden Theatre

A poor, one-eyed farmer stumbles into a land where no one can see, and into the unusual opportunity to be a privileged ruler there. But can he convince the natives, who’ve learned to live a rich and able life despite their lost eyesight, to share his vision of the future? Or will his lust for power — and a beautiful young woman — blind his reasoning and jeopardize his life?

Director Julane Havens first encountered The Country of the Blind at the Coterie Theatre’s premiere production while pursuing her degree at University of Missouri at Kansas City. This adaptation of the H.G. Wells short story was written by Frank Higgins, a writer and professor at UMKC.
