And now, thanks to a grant by the SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration (NYC), we have the opportunity to secure generous support for the merger process.

BARBARA SEXTON SMITH
recipient of the 2014
Arts Community Impact Award
A Louisville Connector and stalwart in the arts community who in 28 years has helped raise more than $208 million for the Fund for the Arts, Metro United Way, and many others. Most recently Barbara was President and CEO of the Fund for the Arts.
JENNIFER CARPENTER (’98)
recipient of the 2014
Inspirational Alumni Award
Critically acclaimed actress (and alumna of Walden Theatre and Juilliard) best known for her roles in film and television, especially in the Showtime drama Dexter and for her breakout title role in the 2005 film The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
We recently heard back from Cherrish Curry (alumna ’13), who’s been busy working on a BFA in drama production and design studio at New York University. This summer, she’ll be doing stage operations at Glimmerglass in Cooperstown NY, which is THE summer opera and musical theatre getaway for the New York area and a great place to rub shoulders with a range of industry insiders. Congrats Cherrish on a strong first year away!
Here’s a letter she sent us last month from the front lines, as it were:
I’m loving the city and loving my work. Tomorrow I load in for my first show I’m designing up here. And I’ve had a lot of opportunities to work on a lot of projects and gigs up here including an immersive zombie apocalypse piece in Harlem and a gay nightclub on 42nd street. My classes let me meet a lot of people from the industry and tour a lot of spaces/get a free ticket here and there. I’ve been trying to get more involved with the industry professionals and am arranging to meet with Mary Louise Geiger this week and actively arranging to meet Jennifer Tipton before summer. Which speaking of summer, I’m very honored to have been accepted at Glimmerglass this summer doing stage operations and I cannot wait.
Can’t wait to hear more after Glimmerglass!
The Send-Off is a graduation/farewell party celebrating our graduates and everyone is invited to attend. We’ll be awarding diplomas and watching a great slideshow that features the seniors in all their performances, and for parents and rising students this is a chance to see what this whole experience is all about as the seniors share memories and look ahead the future.
It’s a Walden tradition to bring a snack to share (dip/chips, cookies, cupcakes, what-have-you). If you’d like to donate soda, water, or anything else for the event, visit our sign-up.
